ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to independent film-makers of Odisha and Beyond.. Films will be considered for competition only if they are of a total running time of 5 minutes to 10 minutes.

• 1. To be eligible for competition, submitted film must have been produced within 1st Jan 2022- 31st Dec 2022.
• 2. The last date of submission is 28th Feb 2023.
• 3. All non-Odia films, in other regional languages must contain English subtitles
• 4. Films already uploaded in Youtube and other public platforms are eligible too.
• 5. The participant must be above 15 years of age.
• 6. Multiple entries are allowed. For every entry, he/she shall submit different forms.
• 7. The entries can be for fiction or non-fiction.
• 8. Films once registered cannot be withdrawn.
• 9. The short film must be original with high quality and no watermark of any kind.
• 10. Adult content/Anti Religion/Addiction of Smoking & Alcohol of any kind will not be entertained and would lead to direct disqualification.
• 11. Due credits must be mentioned in the film about their cast and the crew.
• 12. Exceptions to any of the above will be at the discretion of NEWS7 only.

SUBMISSIONS

• 1. All films should be submitted either via Google Drive/WeTransfer to [email protected]
• 2. Film makers can also send a Pen drive to the below mentioned address. There is No entry fee for this competition.

SPECIAL NOTE

News7 is entitled to use all the submitted content, to telecast as well as to promote in the social media platforms(Facebook/Youtube/Twitter/Instagrams). These materials cannot be returned. By submitting this material and signing the release form, you acknowledge NEWS7’s right to copy any material for the organization’s commercial / non-commercial purpose.

FORMAT

Your production may use any video format to capture or create moving images. You can also use photographs and captions to create a visual slideshow. Whichever format you choose, in the end, it should be original, creative and sends out a message.

Your final video should be submitted in MP4, MPEG or MOV formats. Movie should be of 25fps and HD quality.

JUDGING

Entries will be screened and judged by an independent and non-partial panel comprising film makers, artists, writers and educationists.

• 1. Films will be judged entirely on the concept, technical aspects etc. 
• 2. Only selected films will be screened on NEW7 Channel with a special program.
• 3. In case of any dispute the Judges’ decision is final.

AWARDS

The top two films (Best Fiction/Non-fiction) selected by the judging panel will be awarded certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 50,000 & Rs. 30,000 respectively. There will be other certificates and cash Prizes for Best Direction, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Child Artist, Best Cameraman, Best Editor, Best Social Message, Special Jury award etc. And all these categories will be awarded with Rs. 10,000.

The selected films by the judging panel will be specially screened to audience at the NEWS7 SHOWCASE FILM FESTIVAL 2023 at Glittering Function followed by the Showcase Award Show. The prize ceremony will be conducted on the same day.

SCREENING & AWARDS

• The event of NEWS7 SHOWCASE FILM FESTIVAL will be held on the month of March 2023 and all the selected filmmakers will be intimated accordingly.

Best Film (Fiction) – Rs. 50000/-

Best Film (Non-Fiction) – Rs.30000/-

All other Categories – Rs. 10000/- Each

In case of any controversy on a matter not mentioned in the above regulations, the Organizers will decide and take appropriate action. The Organizers’ word shall be final and mandatory.
