Bhubaneswar: In an incident that can be shocking for animal lovers, a white tigeress died in Nandankanan Zoo on the city outskirts early this morning, taking the number of white tigers in the zoo down to eight.
According to information, the tigress, Kusuma’ died of old-age related diseases. It had been undergoing treatment for a few weeks now.
With death of Kusuma, the number of white tigers in the zoon came down to eight only. It may be noted that white tiger breeding and rearing is the speciality of Nandankanan Zoo.
The death of ‘Kusuma’ has shocked zoo staffs and visitors as well.
