Experts representing academia, research organizations and industry from across the world will converge on a single platform at the 4-day international conference on ‘Role of Industrial Engineering in Industry 4.0 Paradigm” to be held at the SOA (Deemed to be University) here from September 27.
The conference is being organized by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Mumbai in partnership with SOA and will be held alongside the Diamond Jubilee National Convention of the IIIE, Prof. R.P.Mohanty, President of IIIE, Odisha chapter, said.
“The idea is to create a platform for exchange and dissemination of knowledge in the emerging field of industry 4.0 and engage practicing professionals and academic researchers both at the national and international level,” he said.
Industry 4.0 denotes the fourth industrial revolution propelling the world at present, he said adding Cyber Technology, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things were driving the technological progress since 2015.
“While Industry 1.0 was driven by Steam Power as the first industrial revolution changed the world, Industry 2.0 was propelled by Electric Power and Electronics. Information Technology steered Industry 3.0, the third industrial revolution,” Prof. Mohanty said.
The themes to be covered at the conference will include building the digital enterprise, designing the productivity and quality engineering systems, designing the supply chain management systems and designing the intelligent manufacturing systems and smart factories.
Forty corporate teams from India will present case studies relating to productive improvement and innovative practices while around 250 technical research papers, both from academia and industry, had so far been received for the conference.
Fifteen outstanding researchers from all over the world would deliver key note addresses while an equal number of top management professionals, providing leadership for implementation of Industry 4.0 in Indian enterprises would also be participating in the top management forum, he said.
