Sheep killing: Villagers block Phulnakhara-Niali road, demand aid

Bhubaneswar: The vehicular movement on the Phulnakhara-Niali road was severely disrupted this morning as locals blocked the road at Kaliaghai demanding compensation for sheep died in attack of unidentified animal/animals in the area.

According to information, hundreds of villagers kept a dead sheep that was killed by an unidentified creature at Jamugaradi village last night and blocked the road. They demanded that adequate compensation be paid to affected farmers whose sheep have been killed by the unidentified creature.

According to information, the unidentified creature killed three sheep in Jamugaradi village. The sheep belonged to Ashok Jena of the village.

It may be noted that a large number of sheep have already been killed during the last two months. The administration is yet to confirm how the ewes and lambs are being killed. Forest and Nandankanan zoo officers, though have initiated efforts to nab the creature, are yet to succeed in the mission.

Villagers are still spending sleepless nights in the entire Niali area.
