Bhubaneswar: The Patitapawan Bana (sacred flag that protects devotees) atop the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri was flown away by a strong wind last night.
According to reports, the rituals at the Shreemandir were not affected as one of the flags was still attached to the Nilachakra. Fixing of a Patitapawan Bana is a requisite for conduct of rituals for the Trinity, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
It may be noted that the Patitapawan Ban had been detached and flown away a few weeks back.
