Odisha plans DBT for sugarcane procurement from farmers

Bhubaneswar: The State Government is seriously contemplating to introduce direct benefit transfer (DBT) for sugarcane farmers from next year. The Government also decided to give pending dues of the sugar cane farmers within four months.
Cooperation and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Surya Narayan Patro the Government will adopt the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme to pay the support price for sugarcane farmers from next season.
The money will be immediately credited to farmers’ bank accounts electronically to reduce delay in payment.
“The Government has planned to adopt direct benefit transfer for sugarcane procurement from farmers from next year. Further, we have decided to give the pending dues of sugarcane farmers within four months,” said Patro.
He also informed that the Government will provide working capital for Aska Sugar Mill.
