Puri: On the third-day of his six day visit to Odisha Nepal King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev today attended programme commemorating the silver jubilee of ‘Pattabhisheka’ of Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati at the Gobardhan Math here.
The Shankaracharya and king of Puri Gajapati Dibya Singh Deb were present. Bikram Shah Dev will also attend the valedictory event of the two-day silver jubilee programme on Saturday. Hindu seers and scholars from across the country have attended the spiritual discourse.
On Sunday, the last Hindu monarch of Nepal will visit Shree Jagannath Temple at Puri where he will have the special privilege of performing the ‘aarati’ of the deity atop the Ratna Singhasan inside the sanctum sanctorum.
The king of Puri Gajapati Dibya Singh Deb and representatives of Shree Jaganath Temple Administration (SJTA) will receive the last Nepal king at the Lion’s Gate of the shrine, which will be closed to the public from 9 am to 12 noon on Sunday.
On Wednesday he joined the International Gau Sambardhana Mahostyav and laid the foundation stone for a Go Mata Mandira at Rathipur near Jatni. On Friday, he visited Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar and Gopinath (Krishna) temple at Sakhigopal in Puri district.
He arrived in Odisha on February 7. He will return from the State on February 12.
