Bhubaneswar: Two days after the bodies of a couple and their son were found in two different places in Athamalik area in Angul district, police today detained two persons in this connection.
The Kishore Nagar police detained Nandakishore Dethi and Babula Behera and are interrogating them.
Bodies of Biranchi Nayak, his wife Tarani Nayak and ten-year-old son, who were staying in a thatched house on the outskirts of the Gambharimulia village, were recovered from three different places on Tuesday. While the woman’s body was found near the village, those of her husband a son were found nearly 50 km away, in an isolated spot in Pokanda near Athamalik.
Police said ornaments and cash were taken from the house. However, their two-year-old daughter was safe at home.
The police suspect all three had been murdered. They are yet to figure out a clear motive for the alleged murder although prima facie evidence suggests the family had been robbed and then eliminated.
On Wednesday, villagers of the deceased persons held a road blockade near their village demanding adequate compensation to the kin of the deceased.
Vehicular traffic between Thakuramunda-Kisannagar was disrupted as the protestors staged road blockade near Ghambharimulia village to press their demands.
