Bhubaneswar: Locals along with people from different walks of life, including women took upon themselves to bring about the change they wanted to see at the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya at Sakhigopal in Puri district, after repeated pleas of help to the Government and political leaders fell on deaf ears.
Once a symbol of pride for the Odias, the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya better known as “Bakula Bana” (bakul forest) since students were imparted education here in natural surroundings, now stares at gloom. Miscreants have made it their house.
Though miscreants had damaged the statue of Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Pandit Godavarish Mishra and Acharya Harihar Das located inside the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya premises, better known as Bakula Bana (Bakul forests) a few months back, the Government authorities, including the Puri Collector, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda have failed to revive it which was once a symbol of pride for the Odias.
Finding no alternatives, locals along with the granddaughter of Pandit Gopabandhu Das got together and installed the statue of the three big leaders amid bhajans, beating of drums and patriotic fervour.
The PrameyaNews7 has been continuously telecasting the sorry state of the Bakula Bana and Government’s initiatives.
The unique concept of teaching students under the shade of bakul and churiana trees was developed by five big leaders of the state-Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Pandit Krupasindhu Mishra, Acharya Harihar Das, Pandit Godavarish Mishra and Pandit Nilakantha Das. They often referred to as Panchasakha.
