Bhubaneswar: Mercury continued to soar on Friday in major parts of the State with Angul scorching at 44.7 degree Celsius while four towns recorded above 40 mark.
Angul which was hottest at 44.7 was followed by Bolangir (44.5), Talcher (44.1), Jharsuguda (44), Sonepur (43.8), Sambalpur (43), Titilagarh (43), Hirakud (43), Bhawanipatna (42.5), Phulabani (41.2) and Keonjhar (40.1).
Meanwhile, the local Meteorological centre predicted that the intense heat wave conditions will continue across Odisha for next few days. “The prevailing heatwave condition will prevail in interior parts of the State while coastal Odisha will witness a steep rise in temperature from April 23.”
On Thursday, Bolangir recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius.
