Only one police firing occurred in Odisha

Bhubaneswar:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the State Assembly on Monday that only one police firing incident occurred in the State in the year 2016 and the local police are probing into the incident after registering a case.

The Chief Minister, in response to a question of Congress MLA Kailash Chandra Kulesika, said as many as 1,914 riots and nine bank dacoity incidences occurred during the year.

Similarly, 33 incidents of encounter between police and Maoists occurred, 22 Maoist camps were destroyed and 35 Maoists/ supporters/militia arrested during the year.

He too informed that only one curfew incident occurred in the year.
