No breakthrough in Puri murder case

Bhubaneswar: Police continue to shoot in the dark even as 36 hours have passed since a hotelier and lawyer was brutally murdered in Puri.

Chandan Behera, who ran a hotel in Puri and also a Orissa Bigh Court Bar member was hacked to death near his Sai Kutira Hotel on Sunday evening which is located hardly 30 mteres from Sea Beach police station.

Though Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi claimed that the assailants have been identified, the police are yet to nab them. The cops are also yet to confirm the exact reason behind the murder of the lawyer. He said all important aspects related to the murder have been examined. Efforts are being made continuously and we are waiting for a breakthrough, he said.

Meanwhile, lawyers across the State have resorted to one-day cease-work stir demanding immediate arrest of the accused involved in the crime.

In Puri too, lawyers demanding immediate transfer of district SP Sarthak Sarangi for his alleged failure in curbing criminal elements, have started three-day cease-work agitation. They have boycotted court activities across the district for three-days till Thursday.
