Bhubaneswar: Normal life has gone out of gear at Kalimela in Malkangir district as a 12-hour bandh began this morning by the district Congress to press for various demands.
The agitators have been demanding issuance of caste certificates at ease, transfer of forest land patta to all tribals under the Forest Rights Act and action against some tehsil officials, who have been taking bribe from common people.
Due to the bandh, schools, colleges, bazaars and offices have remained closed in the town. Similarly, vehicular movement on the Kalimela-Malkanagir, Padia routes has been severely disrupted.
Adequate police arrangements have been put in place by the district administration to maintain law and order and to avert any possible untoward incident.
