Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate Jharsuguda-Rourkela Biju Expressway on March 12, informed Works Minister Prafulla Mallik after a review meeting here.
Works Secretary Nalinikant Pradhan among many senior Government officials were present in the meeting.
The Biju Expressway project was launched in August 2014. The Rs 3,200 crore economic corridor between Jagdalpur and Rourkela was promised during the 2014 last elections.
The project aims at connecting four districts of western Odisha like Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Sundergarh with four KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) districts namely Koraput, Nawrangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada.
The expressway will also connect many border towns of western and south Odisha like Chandli, Boriguma, Nawrangpur, Papadahandi, Ambapani, Dharmagarh, Sinapali, Behella, Nuapada, Paikmal, Padmapur, Sohela, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, and Rourkela.
