Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for commencement of construction of the proposed National Institute of New Energy and Innovation (NINEI) at the earliest.
Earlier on three occasions- on February 5, 2016, August 23, 2016 and May 16, 2017, the Chief Minister had written to the Prime Minister seeking his personal intervention for establishment of NINEI. But nothing tangible has happened as yet.
“The State Government has already allocated 73.68 acres of land near IIT, Bhubaneswar for the institute. Further, 1.00 acre of land has been identified in Bhubaneswar for the city office of the institute. However, the construction of the institute has not yet been taken up despite grant of advance possession of the require land,” said Patnaik in a letter to the Prime Minister Modi.
In the meantime, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued an order on November 10, 2017 to close down the regional office may hamper the progress of establishment of the NINEI, Patnaik said.
“I would likely to request you to intervene in the matter and issue instruction to commence construction of NINEI at the earliest,” said Patnaik, further requesting the PM to direct the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to re-open the regional office at Bhubaneswar.
