Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated 29 medal winners in the Asian Athletics Championships (AAC) by distributing cash incentives to them.
While gold medallists got a cash incentive of Rs 10 lakh each, the CM felicitated each silver and bronze medal winners with a cash reward of Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively.
India has secured five gold medals to top the medal tally, for first time in the history of AAC and pushing China to second. Of the total 29 medals, Indian won 12 gold, five silver and 12 bronze. India not only won maximum medals in the AAC-2017 played at the Kalinga Stadium, also gave highest gold medals to the country.
China ended this 22nd edition of the AAC on second position with eight gold, seven silver and five bronze.
In the history of AAC, India fared the best in Bhubaneswar.
