Bhubaneswar: The Dhenkanal Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court today allowed police to take Prashant Das, CMD of Seashore Group chit fund firm on a four-day remand.
Although, the police sought a five-day remand of Dash, the SDJM allowed the police to take Dash on four-day custody for interrogation. He will be produced before the court on January 12.
On January 6, he was remanded in judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected by the Dhenkanal SDJM.
Dash was arrested on Saturday by the Dhenkanal police a day after he was released from Jharpada Special Jail on Friday evening after cooling his heels for more than four years following his arrest by State Crime Branch in June 2013.
Dhenkanal Town police arrested Dash from his Bhubaneswar-Jharpada-based residence. He was out on bail in connection with eight cases, including the one registered by CBI. He was released from judicial custody on Friday evening after cooling his heels for more than four years following his arrest by State Crime Branch in June 2013.
Sources said Dash was arrested in an old cheating case of 2014. The case was registered at Dhenkanal Town police station.
He was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued against him by a court. Seashore Group is accused of cheating investors of more than Rs 500 crore.
