Body of one of the two trapped workers recovered in Koraput

Bhubaneswar: After 14 days of rescue operation, the body of one of the two earth moving machine operators, who were trapped under a heap of boulders was recovered at Bariput quarry in Koraput district today.

The rescue teams rescued the body Ghanashyam Guru of Deogarh district. On Sunday the body was spotted under the heap of huge boulders and today it was identified by his family members. The fate of the other worker Sanjay Das of Athgarh in Cuttack district is yet to be known. The

The body has decomposed since it was buried for the last 14 days.

Controlled blasting under direct supervision of a team of Indian Army’s engineering wing, were carried out in past few days, to remove the heap of boulders in an effort to rescue the trapped workers.

On May 31 evening, both the workers were trapped under a heap of boulders along with their earth moving machines when the two were working with earth movers at a Government project in Bariput village.
