Bhubaneswar: Normal life has gone out of gear in Khamar area under Pallahada block in Angul district as a 12-hour bandh began this early morning.
According to information, the BJP is holding the bandh to press for seven demands, which include declaration of Khamar area as drought-hit and immediate appointment of doctors at Khamar hospital.
Shops, schools, colleges and various offices have been closed. Vehicular movement on the National Highway 149 has been fully disrupted as BJP workers have blocked the road at different places by burning tyre. Vehicles have stranded on the both the sides of the Baanarpal-Tata road. The bandh will continue till 6 pm.
Adequate numbers of police personnel have been deployed to avoid possible untoward incidents, according to reports.
