Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the regional ruling outfit of Odisha, will not attend the dinner to be hosted by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi today.
BJD Legislature Party Leader Bhartruhari Mahtab said this to News7 channel this morning.
It may be noted that Sonia has invited 17 opposition parties, including the BJD, to the dinner to be held at her residence. The dinner assumes significance as it is being hosted by the Congress veteran at a time when talks of forging a broader front against the BJP-led NDA doing rounds ahead of the 2019 general elections.
“We will not attend the dinner to be hosted by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi,” said Mahtab.
It may be noted that BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has time and again announced that the ruling party would maintain equi-distance from the Congress and the BJP.
