Bhubaneswar: An incident has come to the fore where farmers of Tengarapali under Bhograi block burnt paddy crops in as many as 120 acres of land alleging noncooperation of electricity department.
Farmers said they had undertaken cultivation work depending of dug-well waters. However, power supply was disconnected at a time when paddy plants needed water. Due to electric disconnection to dug-well points, water couldn’t be supplied to our land and all our paddy crops were destroyed, they said.
In protest, the farmers set the paddy plants on fire, according to reports.
