Bhubaneswar: Dengue killed another patient in Odisha taking the total death toll to two by Saturday morning, according to reports.
The patient died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack early this morning. He was identified as Harihar Mallick of Basudevpur are in Bhadrak district. He had been undergoing treatment at the SCB since August 8, reports added.
Notably, the season’s first dengue death was reported in the state on August 9 (Wednesday). The patient, Som Prakash Mishra (35) of Chappra in Bihar, succumbed while undergoing treatment in the ICU of SCB on Wednesday.
At least 15 patients were undergoing treatment in dengue ward while two patients were admitted in the ICU.
Though, according to medical experts, dengue is curable when treated early, reporting of the two deaths due to the vector-borne disease in a short span of three days have put Cuttack denizens in fear.
Doctors have advised that instead of panicking people should take measures to keep their surroundings clean and take necessary precautionary measures to avoid the diseases.
