Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Congress Observers’ team visit to the State to assess the political situation in Odisha, the exercise to change the PCC president Prasad Harichandan begun today with almost all the party MLAs unanimously deciding to place their demand for Niranjan Patnaik for the PCC chief position.
The party MLAs assembled at the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Narasingha Mishra’s house here and batted for Niranjan Patanik for the PCC president post.
The MLAs have been demanding to find a suitable replacement for the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prasad Harichandan since a long.
Considering their demand, Congress president Sonia Gandhi constituted a three-member observers’ team to assess the political situation in Odisha. The team will arrive at the State capital today evening.
Tamrdhwaj Sahu, Sushmita Dev and Jitendra Singh would be part of the three-member panel. The team will return on August 14. The team will be accompanied by AICC general secretary and secretary in-charge of Odisha affairs BK Hariprasad.
Earlier, all the 16 Congress MLAs also met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi demanding Harichandan’s removal.
