Bhubaneswar: Special Geriatric Clinics National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) would be opened in 34 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the five municipal corporation areas soon in order to provide exclusive care facilities for the elderly people.
These proposed clinics would be opened in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) areas.
Highest Geriatric Clinics would come up in 16 PHCs in Bhubaneswar, followed by eight in Sambalpur, seven in Cuttack, two in Rourkela and one in Berhampur.
Outdoor patient service along with physiotherapy facilities would be available at these centres. Medicine specialists and physiotherapy technicians would be outsources for the purpose.
Medicine specialist would visit the centre once in a week and would take Rs 2,500 as remuneration while physiotherapist would visit the clinics thrice in a week and would be given Rs 1,000 per day.
While the Centre would bear 60 percent of the total expenditure the State share would be of 40 percent.
