Bhubaneswar: Normal life in Balasore town has gone out of gear as a 12-hour bandh began by some trade unions belonging to Congress and Left Parties in protest against deteriorating law and order in the city.
According to reports, shops and bazaars and Government offices have remained closed due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh.
Vehicular movements have been disrupted as a result of which thousands of vehicles have stranded on the roadsides.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed to maintail law and order during the bandh in the city.
“Dacoity, loot, murder have risen in the city. The police have remained mute spectator only. Despite repeated approaches, the district administration has not taken any step to check illegal acts,” said agitating people.
